Journal: 6/8

I enjoyed making movies the most this year because we can make our own things use our own ideas, not like the others (photshop and excel) where we had to read the rules and follow it. I think it was more interesting to make our videos to because we all get to share it with everyone at the end.

Journal: 6/2

During Dragon Boat Festival, I ate rice dumplings!!! (hooray!) That was probaly the only thing I did that relatesto Dragon Boat Festival. However, it was still a relaxing, good weekend. Nothing much happened- we didn't even celebrate Dragon Boat Festival.

Journal: 5/27Dragon Boat Festival!

During Dragon Boat vestival, I will pray that my mom buys rice dumplings for us to eat because last week she said that she might not buy them for us- only for grandma. Oh God, please let my mom buy rice dumplings! I really love to eat them. Also, I might suggest to prepare an egg during that day. An EGG??? For what??? It's an event of Dragon Boat Festival- at noon when the sun is high up in the sky, people put an egg on the ground (the fat end on the bottom and pointy end facing the sky) and at 12 o'clock the egg will stand when you let go of your hand! Cool!

Journal: 5/25 What makes a video good?

I enjoy a video if was interesting and unique. I wouldn't like to watch movies that have similar stories- that's boring. I prefer a video that have something special that no other movies have- such as great story plot, or a new actor that performed well in the movie, or a special effect that made the story be realistic. Also the movie must have a scene that makes the audience remember like a funny joke people keep laughing about or a romantic scene that girls keep dreaming about or a abrupt surprise that made people's heart pump out. I'd only enjoy the video if it has unforgettable scenes!

Journal: 5/21 Games!

I think games are fun! However it's hard to find the right game that suits you the best. There are many games that I used to like, but now I'm tired of them. So I find new games that interests me. When I find games, I find the ones that are unique and special because there are many games that are similar to each other, therefore it's boring when I play them. I can play any game as long as it can pause, because if my mom comes near, I can pause and stop the game, then I don't have to worry about losing the game. My mom won't let me play games so if she catches me playing them, she would be very angry! So I must be cautiuos when I secretly play them.

Journal: 5/19 hmm...

I want to learn more about how to film a movie so that it looks realistic or add effects to make the movie look real, that way it'll improve the quality of the movie. Quality is important for making movies (my opinion)!!!

Journal: 5/15 Bloggin' !!!

I like blogging because you can express your ideas and thoughts on the blog. When you have something to say but no one wants to listen, you can type what you want to say on the blog. You can say whatever you want: when you're in live, you can write a poem, when you're sad, you can write what made you sad, and when you're angry, you can write your angry thoughts to release your anger. Also I can share information with friends or readers of my blog!

Journal: 5/13 video...

In my video, I want to put bloopers of popular movies, that way everyone can laugh along and enjoy behind-the-scene films. I will pick the really funny ones so that people remember it well and talk more about it.

Journal: 5/11 Mother's Day!!!

Mother's Day was on 5/10 this year, it is a day to remember our mothers' love and hard efforts of taking care of us. This day, people celebrate to thank their mothers; they may buy cakes, eat a good dinner, and send cards, flowers, and presents. Yesterday, my brothers and I gave our mom handmade cards (as usual but I try to make them different each year) . My mom bought a big cake with pudding and taro filling and fruits on the top for her mom, our grandmother. It was very delicious but there were too many cream on top, eww~! Overall, it was a great day!Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in the world!

Journal: 5/7 3...2...1...Action!

If I create a video, it would be about changed version of a popular movie or story(one that a lot of people knows) so that it is funnier. For example: the Goldilock and the three bears by the middle school music mix. I would change the plot of the story to a very funny one so that everyone would laugh and enjoy it. XD The main goal of my movie is that the audience needs to like it, so I think a comedy film would be the most enjoyable. So far, I have a lot of stories that I want to use... but soon I will think of a good one that will make you and others laugh!!!

Journal: 5/5 Facebook? Hackers!?

To protect yourself from hackers, Facebook suggests you to ignore messages, posts, links, ask for log-in information, and always make sure that you are visiting the social networking Website's legitimate address: facebook.com. Now, Facebook has already expand alliance with Internet security to prtect users from hackers and online subterfuge, so Facebook users must not worry too much.

Journal: 5/1 USA here we go!!!

If I ever go to USA, I hope to visit the Disneyland in California because of ... ROLLER COASTERS!!!I haven't been to any amusement parks for a loooong time and I really want to go on th rides. I have been to the Disneyland in California once when I was really young- so young that I didn't even how to think. We only got a few pictures of my family in Disneyland. Because I know very little about that event of my life, I want to go to Disneyland to know more about it. Also I like to go on ride because they are exciting and they can even stop your heartbeat for a moment. Cool!

Journal: 4/24 *o* MONEY

If I had $10000000, I would buy all the comics I want to read, MUAHAHAHAHA!!! that would be a big step toward my dream of Comic World! I can imagine myself in my room, sitting in the middle of the piles and piles of comic books, reading one after another... how nice would that be (for me)! Actually- no, I wouldn't do that even though I really want to, instead, I would buy a new computer, my favorite candies, and of course- COMIC. But I would only buy the ones I haven't read. Hehehe!

YEA RIGHT, SANDY!!! Stop dreaming and finish your homework!

Journal: 4/22

Earth day, April 22, is a time for us to get together and do more actions to help save and protect Earth. During this day, we should use less water, conserve energy, recycle, reduce, and reuse. People wear yellow this day because it is the new GREEN. Also, people do activities such as playing games about Earth day, learn all about how you can save Earth, and plant trees and plants. Campaigns are held to spread the word of protecting Earth and what actions to do so that we have a better, greener future! So wear yellow! plant trees! and save EARTH!!!

Journal: 4/20 MUN

What I learned from having MUN here was that there are a lot of delegates who are very good at debating however there are also delegates who were very quiet and hardly talked at all. I also learned all the procedures of this Model United Nations: lobbying, merge resolutions, debate, ammend, and then vote, including all the formal words used during the debate. I also learned that many people merge together because the nation they represent are allies, instead of similar position on the issue. So it took some of the delegates some time to convince others that we are debating on the issue, not the main problem of the issue. For example, people didn't really want to be with the delegate of DPRK because of the missile launch, delegates of the European countries didn't want to be with Israel bacause of the Jews, and the delegate of US didn't want to be with the delgate of Iran because of 9/11. There were this kind of problems at first, since I was the delegate of Israel, but eventually things work out. It was really interesting!

Journal: 4/14 Global student

I think I'm a global student because I know languages other than Chinese, which are Spanish and English. Also, I have been to many different countries to enjoy and know more about the country. I read the world sections in newspapers and is aware of problems around the world. Also I student of AST, which an American school that interacts with schools all over Taiwan and others in other countries, especially the MUN conferences. Most of all, I'm a global student because I'm willing to try different things like foods or activities from different parts of the world and be globalized.

Journal: 4/10

I prefer 90 minutes of class because it is longer and we can finish more work in the class, however it actually depends and which class- there are some classes that I prefer to be shorter and some longer. P.S.- I want to 90min of computer class ... not 45min.

Journal: 4/8 UN goal

I could make a difference in the reaching of UN goal of prevent the increase of poverty and hunger by 1) telling the rich to donate money, food, and etc. to the poor, 2) suggests that the companies of the rich let the poor work for them so that the companies have workers and the poor have jobs, 3) prevent the problem of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, and 4)getting rid of greedy government officers who take away tax money and put it into his own pocket (*cough*Ex-President Chen of Taiwan*ahem*). These are my ideas so far but since this goal is not related to my issue for this year's TAIMUN, I don't have better ideas to eradiate hunger and poverty.
For the wishing thing on my blog, just click the picture of stars in the gadget.

  5. improve maternal health
  6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases
  7. protect the enviroment

Journal: 4/2 Spring vacation

It was a OK holiday because nothing special happened- even the trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The temperature was hot there and the only thing we can do is that write our homework in our dad's office. My Dad owns factories in Vietnam and Cambodia and manufactures shoes to Europe and Japan. The only good thing that happened in the holiday was that I got many new and free shoes. There's at least more than 17 pairs (that i can think of now) that I recieved. My favorite shoe brand that my father makes is Zara, a Spanish shoe brand. This brand has a lot of dancing shoes which I liked the most so I have a lot of them. Now these dancing shoes are popular and they're comfortable to wear. I LOVE my new shoes!!!
p.s. - now the shelves for shoes are really full!

Journal: 3/19 5 Activities

On this holiday, I hope to do the following 5 activities:
  1. Finish all the componets of the science project on constellations.
  2. Work hard to prepare TAIMUN information, policy statement, and opening speech
  3. Practice typing on the speed test website or other typing games
  4. Get as much sleep as possible (since I have beeen sleeping late during the school days)
  5. HAVE FUN!!!

There's a lot of school work so I really have to complete those assignments, especially science and TAIMUN. Although its boring but its better to have them finised before school starts again. Well, I'll definitely practice on typing and enjoy myself over the holiday. Have a great spring holiday too! \(^o^)/

Journal: 3/17 Internet!!

If I controlled the Intenet, YES! the Internet is MINE!, I would force websites to give me membership in order for their webs to work, that's quite evil but then I can recieve all the information I searched since some websites don't allow you to read its content unless you pay. Also I can use membership to get better things, such as being able to use premium effects on picnik.com, and such. I would also do pranks on people I dislike, such as hacking and sending weird mails. However, I won't send viruses, I really dislike them so I would also eliminate all viruses in the Internet so that no one could send or recieve them. Yes, that is what I'll do, erase viruses from the Internet! but that would take plans and action- hmmm...
Maybe I just be lazy and leave the Internet the way it is.

Journal: 3/13 "bestest" weekend

My favorite weekend is when I'm all alone in my home and there's no homework from school, then I get to watch all the TV I want and read online comics without worrying that my mom finds out and my brothers fighting to play the computer. For meals, a piece of bread with a cup of cold chocolate milk would be fine for breakfast, spaghetti for lunch, and McDonalds for dinner. At McDonalds, I would order a McChicken with french fries and iced tea. All day with TV and computer would be a perfect weekend, the weekend of my dreams. I hope that comes true ^-^

Journal: 3/11 Best Photoshop so far

So far, I like doing assignment Chapter Text, which is the one we're working right now about the different word text. I like it because I like the results of the special effects on the text. It's so cool! The words turn out very pretty and special after working on them, I really like pretty words. I also enjoy changing the color of the spaghetti in Color Projects because the 'special' spaghetti was so cool. I totally can't imagine eating the spahetti that has different color sauce and noodles! These are the two assignments I enjoy the most.

Journal: 3/9 Fun at Assembly

Assemblies are fun if people performed skits or showed funny videos. Everyone could then enjoy the last few minutes of school on a monday. Drama students can act, computer students can make films, kids can tell jokes, teachers can show their crazy sides, and people can sing or dance. I think to encourage more entertainment on a Monday assembly is to give extra credit to people who performed. Probably that will make everyone perform onstage. I also think music students can perform their intruments and special people to show off their unique tricks. Well, anything that makes people laugh would be a very interesting entertainment!

Wednesday, 4 March 2009

Journal: 3/5 Monday Assembly

I wish that when we go to the assembly we could have entertainments for us to see such as short plays. instrumental performances. and etc., so that we could enjoy and it's also safer for us students so that we don't roam around school during the last few minutes of school. This way, teachers can supervise us. Also I wish that the speakers in the front can speak in a louder voice so that people in the back can hear. That's probably it, there's nothing much that needed to change.

Journal:3/3 Shortcuts!!!

These are 5 shortcuts for photshop:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N - this will bring up a new layer
  • ] - increase the size of the brush and the opposite is [ - decreases the size of the brush
  • Ctrl + z - undo ( it's very useful for getting rid of mistakes)
  • Ctrl + 0 - this fits the entire photo in front of your eyes. p.s.- it's Ctrl + zero, not the letter "o"
  • Ctrl + Alt + Shift + K - shows keyboard commands

Journal: 2/26 School uniforms?!?!

I think school uniforms are fine as long as they are nice in style and in quality, which is the material they're made out of. Also, they should be approved by most students, if the majority of the students agrees to school uniforms, I'm okay with them.

Journal: 2/24 HOT!!

HOT tips for photshop:

1.) Always duplicate the Background layer when working on any image. This allows you to look at or return to the original very easily. Name the layers to avoid confusion.
2.)If you made a mistake immediately go Edit > Step Backward or use History as shown on page 17.
3.)In the early versions there are no preset sizes - simply enter in the required dimension. Go Image > Rotate Canvas to get a landscape page.

The tool that I like the most is the sponge tool because it mixes the colors of the places you click so that it looks like that the color changed into another color. But too bad that we don't use this tool that often.

Journal: 2/20

What would you do if there were no computers...
I would read books and comics and probably go shop bookstore for more comics of my mom let me buy them. If I can't read, I'd draw pictures and listen to music in my MP3 or hide in the corner of my closet and daydream. I really like hiding in my closet. But I'd still miss the computer a lot- we can't play online games, listen to free music, chat on MSN or facebook, use the internet telephone, and most of all- homework. There are many homework assignment that require the computer: to type and search info. Actually, if there were no more computers, I'd think that there's one reason less to live. I can't live without a computer!!!

I learn and remember best when...
  • I see the list of instructions clearly explaining what to do.
  • The working place is not to quiet or too loud.
  • There's an example for me to understand what my final work should be like.
  • A teacher is there for me to answer all my questions.
  • THE TOPIC INTERESTS ME

That's problaby it.

The part of computer class I like the least is when... geez... I really don't know- there's nothing I dislike about computer class. I think everything is fine the way it is. Oh! I know what I dislike, I don't like the noise the six grader boys are making. I think they're kind of loud and it makes others a bit hard to concentrate on working. Sorry to be offensive- but I wish they can lower their voices a bit. Thank- you.

Journal: 2/12 Computer Class

So far the best part of this class is not having homework. Also I like to practice typing in Mavis Beacon and working in photoshop, it's really fun! I enjoy this class a lot.

Journal: 2/10

I wish that homeroom was a time that we can do what we want but we still have to be at our seats and be quiet. So that means that we can do homework if we want. I also hope that our homeroom teacher don't have to be so angry when we're late or lots of us asked to go to the bathroom. I think homeroom is the time when we could take a break (especially like going to the bathroom) and wrap things up ( like writing things down or finishing the last part of a work).
In our homeroom time, we're only allowed to read quietly and we'd get scolded when we talk, not reading a book, being late, and too much of us asking to go to the bathroom. So I hope the rules of homeroom can change a bit.

Journal:2/6

Today, we were introduced to a new online world encyclopedia web. I thought it was quite cool, and it has many information and pictures (if you chose the correct article), that's why I like it. But when you scroll down the page after you clicked 'go' for a topic, you'll find articles that aren't about the topic. Only the first one is, but the rest of the articles weren't about the topic, and I think that's bad.

Journal: 2/4

Over the holidays, the things I enjoyed the most were playing with my niece and seeing my cousins. My niece likes to run around and scream, she also likes to sit in front of the piano. But, most of all, she likes to be around Angus. We are not sure why she likes Angus the most, but the rest of the family think it's because he's the youngest in the family in the house (which is true). She's kind of chubby but is very cute and funny, especially when she talk gibberish. I have a lot of cousins, most of them are older and have jobs. New Year Eve is the time when we meet annually. This New Year Eve, after dinner, some of my cousins rushed out to 7-11 to by junk food and games, such as Uno. even though my brothers and I can only play with them a short time, I enjoyed the short happy moment!!!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Chinese New Year holiday!

Journal: 1/21 Last day before Chinese New Year!

This is what I learned in photshop this week:
-magic wand: a tool to select a certain color on a picture
-horizontal type tool: a tool that allows you to select an area and type words
-eyedropper tool: a tool that allows you to pick a color
-brush tool: a tool that paints the areas that you click with the color you pick with the eyedropper

Today, in Mavis Beacon, there are both good and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?
Okay, I'll tell you the good one first-
The good news is that I've advanced to the intermediate level. But the bad news is that my wpm is only 23wpm.

Journal: 1/19

A pixel is a tiny portion of a picture. It is hard to see the pixels unless you enlarge the picture really big. A picture is made up of tons of pixels.
Now, I'm going to introduce a new tool in photoshop. It is the magic wand! Magic wand is a tool used to select a certain color on a picture. So this will be useful if you want to change a certain color on a picture to another.
If I get some money in my envelope, I will save it in my bank account as usual, since I can't go shopping myself and I can't buy anything I want. However, if I could spend the money, I would like to go to the stationary store to buy some really fancy stuff and bo to a bookstore and buy comics (I love comics a lot). Lastly, and of course, I would go to a candy store and buy tasty sweets for myself. But that's all a dream. sign~
Today, my wpm is still 27. sign~

Journal: 1/15

In photoshop, there are many tools you can use to change a picture. One of the many tools, is crop, and this allows you to box the actual part of a picture that you really want. It appears on the left side in photshop with an icon of a picture of a square with a diagonal line across it. There is another function in photoshop that allows you to combine all the layers into one and get rid of the other layers. You can find this function by going to Layer>Flatten Image.

Today, after another short time in praticing typing, my wpm is... (drum beats)
27 wpm!!! Yea, I improved! BUT I still need to improve a lot to reach the expectation, which is 35 wpm.

Journal:more about computers

User interface (U.I.) is how you interact with the computer, such as the keyboard, mouse, or by your voice . Now, technologies are improving very fast, some computers senses your touch, so with a touch by your fingers, something on the computer will change or a progrwm will open.
An icon represents a program, document, or tool to change something and there's other functions due to different icons. It's usally a small picture somewhere on your computer, in a program, or on a document. If you click into an icon, it'll open a program, document, or pops out a tool for you to use.
URl is the address of a website. This abreviation stands for Uniform Resource Locator. So if you know a website's URL, the address, you can just type it in, then you don't have to waste time on searching for the website.

Today, we also practice typing on Mavis Beacan, I got a wpm of 25, which is quite slow. I really need to improve. That is something I really want to do before Chinese New Year vacation. For this vacation, I don't think I'm going anywhere, so I'll be home most of the time. I guess I'll sleep more and get some rest before school starts again.

To fellow AST students-

Congratulations to all receivers of Honor Rolls and High Honor Rolls of second quarter!!!
Good job and keep up the good work!
To those who didn't -
good luck and work hard!

Cool~!

Did you guys know that yesterday's moon was the color of orange!?

Journal:A free hour

If I had one free hour on the computer, I would check my mail to see if I got any new mails from friends or teachers. Then I would go check a Chinese website that has tons of comics uploaded there to check if there's any new comic uploaded or the ones that I've been reading that's been uploaded. On that website, you can also watch cartoons but in order to do that you have to make an account and pay money. It also has a connection to a English web but generally the translation are bad and it comes out slower. Then if there's no new comics uploaded that I want to read, I would check some free games website to see if there's any fun games to play. Well, eventually I'd find something interesting to do.
